** Note: Farm Stays are on hold at the moment while Sam in
We are very pleased to be able to offer training farm stays for our therapy dogs students.
These farm stays are exclusively available to our existing students & graduates (including our puppy and adolescent program dogs).
Location:
Upper Caboolture, QLD
Our Farm Stay and Train holidays are run by Therapy Dogs Australia's founder and head trainer, Samantha King.
Sam is a qualified dog trainer (NDTF) and single handedly trains and cares for all of the dogs that come to the farm.
This is a small operation, we only take one guest dog at a time. That means that your dog gets HEAPS of attention.
Multiple training sessions are provided throughout the days of their stay.
Your dog becomes part of the family. They are in the house, outside and doing horse feed runs with the rest of Sam's pack.
Guest dogs are fitted with a GPS collar tracker (the same that Sams dogs wear), and you can log in to this at any time from your own device.
Guest dogs sleep in a crate (can be inside or outside, whatever you prefer) so it is advisable if your dog is crate trained before their Farm Stay.
Sam is on a 10 acre horse property in Upper Caboolture, QLD.
There are a range of animals, including dogs, cat, horses, chickens and various wildlife (heaps of wallabies).
A dam to swim in, paddocks to play in.
Three very well socialised dogs to assist your young dog with development of their social skills (including play skills).
This is the perfect environment for young dogs to explore (under constant supervision, and fitted with a GPS collar tracker for additional peace of mind, which you can log in to from your device as well!) to build their confidence and learn to manage their behaviours in a range of settings.
Give your adult dogs that 'boost' in their training skills, or get them to the 'next level' of their skillset if you have struggled to make progress as a team.
Many of our available time slots coincide with QLD school holidays, send your dog for a training holidays (we have heaps of fun here) while you are on holidays, and have their skills brushed up on at the same time!
Dogs that have started to display problem behaviours that need some rehab by a professional to get you kickstarted on your behaviour management plan are best started in a Stay & Train. This allows the trainer to do a very thorough assessment of your dog (by literally living with them!), develop a behaviour management plan and get you started on the implementation of the plan.
Note: Dogs with serious behavioural issues may not be suitable - an assessment prior to booking in will be required. This is to ensure that we have the skillset to assist you, and that this is going to be the right environment for your dog to work through those challenges.
Most dogs will fit in to this category - minor behavioural problems are fine. Dogs that are exhibiting aggressive/reactive behaviours do NOT fit in to this category.
Dogs can be dropped off from 12pm on Friday, and picked up at or before 12pm on Monday.
Dogs can be dropped off Monday morning & picked up Friday afternoon.
Dogs can be dropped off Monday morning and the following Monday before 12pm.
This category is for dogs who have more serious training needs. These dogs require an additional skillset, additional training sessions each day, and additional management strategies (separated from other animals etc.). They also typically require a pre-booking assessment and you will be required to have a training session on handover where your management plan will be delivered.
This is a requirement before booking your dog for Stay & Train
